Russell Westbrook Bio: 

Russell Westbrook is professional American basketball player. He is a player on the Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association also known as NBA. He is a highly accomplished basketball player who boasts off many titles. 

Some of them include being the prestigious NBA All-Star award that he won 9 times. He was also awarded as NBA’s Most Valuable Player. Westbrook won the league MVP award in 2017 and shared NBA history along with Oscar Robertson for averaging a triple-double for a season. 

Westbrook developed his love for basketball since the early years. He started playing in school and continued in college as well. He was then recognized for his talent and scouted by the Seattle SuperSonics. 

Westbrook has had the opportunity to represent the United States national team twice. He has the honor of winning gold medals in the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Olympics.

Career: 

Russell Westbrook started his career from a very early age. He started at Leuzinger High School as a point guard and was offered a scholarship to play for the UCLA Bruins. After two years at UCLA, he decided to forgo his final two years and enter the 2008 NBA draft. 

Westbrook was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics that later became the Oklahoma City Thunder, as 4th overall in the 2008 NBA draft. On November 26, 2010, Westbrook scored 43 points against the Indiana Pacers which a high point in his career at that time.  

In the 2011–12 season, he was selected again to participate in the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Westbrook had a surgery on his right knee before the start of the 2013–14 season that allowed him to recover from an injury and return to his career. There was no looking back since then.  

Westbrook was traded to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul in July 2018. On this team, he became the third player in NBA history with 19,000 points, 7,000 assists 6,000 rebounds and 4 assist performance. In 2010, he was selected in the FIBA World Championship team in Istanbul, Turkey.

Personal Life: 

Westbrook and his best friend Khelcey Barrs, wanted to go to UCLA and play together but fate had different plans. In summer 2004, Barrs passed away due to a heart condition but Westbrook still honors his friend’s memory. He wears a wristband that has “KB3” written on it has shoes with “KB3” written on them as well in the loving memory of his childhood best friend.  

He married his longtime girlfriend Nina Earl on August 29, 2015. They had their first child, Noah Russell Westbrook in 2017. In 2018 the couple welcomed twin daughters.
